DRIVING ME CRAZY

Driving me Crazy was the first short play Michelle wrote and was the culmination of the Saturday Playwright’s course with Timothy Daly at the NSW Writers’ Centre. 

Driving me Crazy was performed at the Favourite Shorts Festival in Armidale in March 2009.

Synopsis: Jack's parents want to teach him how to drive, but they can't agree on the road rules. His mother books a lesson with Judd, a driving school instructor, who tries to teach Jack the right way to drive. But with Jack’s parents sitting together in the back seat of the car, it’s a recipe for disaster.

TWO OF A KIND

The first draft of this play was workshopped and performed at Crash Test Drama in July 2010 under the working title, Thick as Thieves.

Two of a Kind was performed at Short & Sweet Newcastle in November 2010.

Synopsis: A petty misunderstanding over a Mars Bar morphs into a war of words between Candice and Jamal, two strangers who meet in a railway cafeteria. They challenge each over cultural stereotypes and other misconceptions until a railway guard intervenes and this seemingly doomed relationship is transformed.

TAXI!

The first draft of this play was called On the Sixteenth Floor and was set in an elevator. After readings at the Saturday Playwright’s course with Timothy Daly (NSW Writers’ Centre), the setting was changed to a city street, and the title was changed to Taxi!

Taxi! was workshopped and performed at Script-in-Hand (Actors Anonymous) in October 2011. Program for Script-in-Hand 24 October 2011.

Taxi! was performed at Short & Sweet Sydney in January 2012.

Synopsis: Distraught on the day of her divorce from Sam, her philandering husband, Kate tries unsuccessfully to hail a taxi. She wants to put the past behind her, but her best friend, Paula, can’t seem to say the right thing. When Sam appears, fueling the fire between them, past grievances are aired and secrets revealed.

EATING CORFU

Michelle wrote this play after attending a comedy scriptwriting workshop with Geoffrey Atherden at the NSW Writers’ Centre in 2010.

Eating Corfu was workshopped and performed at Crash Test Drama in August 2011.

Eating Corfu was short-listed for Short & Sweet Sydney 2012, and performed at Favourite Shorts 2012 in Armidale.

Synopsis: Sibling relationships are put to the test when Robyn celebrates her birthday on her younger sister’s birthday, and can’t understand what all the fuss is about. The fireworks start when Liz's husband, Tony, who has been waiting in his car, barges in.
